Education1:Ernest was a scholar at Charterhouse School, an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls located in Sandy Lane in Godalming. The school was originally located in London but moved to Godalming in 1872. Charterhouse is known for its strong academic reputation and its historic buildings.

Notes:Canon Ernest Scott Fardell was one of the longest serving Rectors of Wreningham church - at 58 years. Appointed in September 1896, following the death of Rev A W Upcher, he took up residence, at the rectory, with his wife, Isobel, and their two young sons. More about Ernest on the WHG website.
Notes:The priesthood was in Ernest’s family. His grandfather, the Reverend Henry Fardell, was a Church of England clergyman who held the posts of Canon of Ely and vicar of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, whose wife, Eliza Sparke, was daughter of Bowyer Sparke, the Bishop of Ely.
